There are 2 ways to finish course work here at IHS. First is the pay by course level method. This method is a little more expensive than taking the 100-400 levels straight through. The second method is to pay for everything when you start your education.

Horsemanship Program

We believe that the most important aspect of the farrier trade is horsemanship. So, we have decided to include a short Horsemanship Program in our 16-week course. This program is exclusive for our 16-week students. Upon arrival, the student will be assigned an untouched yearling colt. The first assignment they will have will be to teach the horse how to be halter broke, load in the trailer, and stand calmly for the farrier. This will be an invaluable learning time for a beginning farrier.
